Shout Out for Help.......Please.....

I am putting a "shout out" to all my lovely friends and design aficionados!
Here's a few pics of the front entry of my casa....I want to change the colors of the awning and the front door.....

The brick is mottled pinky red and grayish wash..if that is even a way to describe color! The siding is a neutral tannish...beige...

The front door below is leaded glass and the same burgundy as the awning.....
I would love a deep eggplant glossy door.... but do not think that would be good for the awning..then I thought..mmm....maybe a silvery grey awning with a deep eggplant piping....then I thought.....

I better call on the "troops"!! and see what YOU think!!!
Help!!! Please......

Ivy...thanks for popping over :)! I have to bolt in a second but just had to take a peek. Your "casa" is cute! My first thought was something dark...then I read your eggplant idea...love it. I'm going to mull it around a bit, fun to think of someone elses project for a change. Later...xo

well, if you're going to ask for our opinions i must share.
i think black would be wonderful and neutral, just in case you want to ever paint the door again.
when i was in europe, i saw many black awnings and in the little village squares...adds some charm.
AND...your home is super adorable. oh to be a home owner...

Hi...back again. Its funny Brock Street said black because that was the "dark" I was thinking of when I first saw it. I actually went on Fine Paints of Europes website because they're famouse for their door paints but they've redone their site and it's way to complicated...so, I was thinking if you could find an eggplant that's super dark, almost black...that would be cool.

Orrrr...go like aqua/robins egg which goes great with the red brick. Have you seen Miles Redd's front door? It's beautiful (google it)...He's painted his brick gray but that's neither here nor there cuz red (even mottley pinky/red) and pale-ish blue go great together. It's actually one of my favorite combos.

Blackish colors are very classic though....and very cool (and would anchor the whole house and go good with the neutral tannish sides)!

Well have a great weekend Ivy...and have fun with this!

Ok....here is how my (most unhelpful...probably) thought process works. My first instinct when I saw it was black. Then looking closer I wondered if the door should be lighter...maybe a gray taupe...THEN thought a stripe would be fun on the awning...that made me think of circuses...and elephants and peanuts. Then I focused again...then I thought I like your idea of the gray with eggplant....then I went back to stripes.

Phew.

Hi this is my first time here, I read your comment over at Linda's since I am a curious lady that loves color I had to pop in. I immediately thought of black. I think it would look great with the brick. Now if it were my house it would have a black and white striped awning which is my favorite and a someday for my own house. I just posted about my porch and mentioned that very thought. I still think black with maybe white trim would be great and then the door shiny black with white molding, good luck,Kathysue

I think a deep purple will make the door and awning pop. You have a very cute house.
Best wishes for playing with colors - how exciting!

Oooo, goody! A design dilemma! I must put my two cents in :)...

I agree with Brock Street (not just because he's the most perfect brother ever) about the black. It would be just perfect. Definitely!

You have the most charming home, Ivy!

I would love to see your awning a black - and your door a deep dark charleston green which is almost black. I would paint the bricks white....but I love painted brick!
bet now you are sorry you asked!

I would add a black metal planter with a small boxwood....on the front step-a black door matte in a trellis pattern....too.

Your house looks so cute. I think you can't go past a classic black and white striped awning and perhaps a black French door would look brilliant

I am still here! Thanks everyone for your opinions/suggestions! I think it's gonna be black.....stay tuned! I must call the awning company to see what this is gonna cost me!! Shouldn't be too bad since frames are there...(have a second one in the back over the patio door)...thanks again! Happy Thursday!

Your house is very pretty! I would perhaps change the tent colour from red to dark green.

hi! you and I have the same problem - front loading garages. grrr!!! hehe. ok - how about this - black and white striped. then paint your front door black, and paint the garage door black too - I did and it looks pretty good, iimssm!!!! the red right now is clashing with the pink brick. you need contrast. and i love striped awnings - i've always wanted one myself.

La Musa and Joni! Thanks for your comments today! I am going to go with black on the awning and the door.. our garage doors have to stay white as all of the neighbors in our "row" have front loading garages and they are white...you all are so sweet to come by and help me!!! THANK YOU!

Ivy - I have a Sunbrella fabric book in my office and I picked two fabrics you might like. If you are looking for a solid, how about Silica Silver. If you like stripes, try Taupe Tailored Bar Strip.

Door color: Ancient Burgundy 1011-6 by Valspar. I have it on my front door and it's amazing! My home is shades of gray. If you would like to see it, contact me and I'll find a picture of in on my blog for you.

Hope I'm not too late!
