My mother gave me this fab slatted table a long while back. I have mostly traditional furnishings in my home, but would like to incorporate this table in somewhere. My dilemma is...

It could be nice as is. Rustic chic. Or maybe stained. Paint might pool between all the slats. Just a thought :)
I don't know what the rest of your furniture looks like but I can see it painted antique white with a distressed finish.
Anna :)
I would leave it, or at most stain it.
You could just freshen it up with a gel stain. Very danish hip looking. Yes to the books and shelter mags on it!
interesting..is if for inside or outside.
all the best from one Ivy to another.
I'd go for cherry red paint.
Just Ivy, It is an inside piece..when it was new ( in the 50's-60's) it was stained and I believe a matte finish.. my Mom used it in front of a window and kept trays with plants on it..hence the water stains...
I think your cherry red would be neat ... if used in a sunroom or covered outdoor space! Thanks for stopping by!
not an officiando but, leave it or get it stripped. check out the nelson bench (google it) for more inspiration.
great piece! A classic.
Depends on the look you are going for... and where this will be located... need more info!
BTW... thanks for reminding me to make mammo appt... ugh
Thanks everyone for your comments/suggestions! I am going to refresh my memory on the Nelson bench, and probably strip, sand and freshen with some stain...have never tried gel stain.. so thanks Linda at the lime in the coconut!! for that tip!!! :)
Definitely try to restore it back to its original condition and finish. What a beautiful piece. You're so lucky your mum handed it down to you!

I have this table, too! In my guest room at the foot of the bed. The finish on mine is darker - and although it's not really my "style" it looks fantastic there. It's a great piece - I know you'll have fun with it! ;)
Paint would be lovely - simply white, cream or even black - depending on your decor.
